Six captains will miss the IPL 2018 opening ceremony: Here’s why

The 11th edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League is all set to kick off on Saturday with the grand opening ceremony taking place at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
IPL 2018 will begin on 7 April 7 with a match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
Celebs at Opening ceremony
Bollywood actors Hrithik Roshan and Jacqueline Fernandes will grace the event with their performances.
The only captains who will be present at the opening ceremony are MS Dhoni (CSK) and Rohit Sharma (MI). The captains of other teams won’t be attending the ceremony because of logistical reasons.
Till the last IPL, the opening ceremony used to be conducted a day before the first match and captains had to sign the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ pledge.
But this year, the scenario has changed. The first match of the edition will be played on the day same day of the opening ceremony.
On April 8, Delhi Daredevils will take on Kings XI Punjab in Mohali at 4 pm and the other match is between RCB and KKR in Kolkata at 8 pm.
It won’t be possible for the captains to attend the ceremony and then be on time for their matches the next day.
It is reported that all the eight captains will shoot a special video before leaving for their respective cities. The video is expected to be shown during the ceremony.
The IPL 2018 Opening Ceremony will commence at 6:15 pm IST.
