Truth behind Virat Kohli sledging Tabraiz Shamsi in 5th ODI against South Africa

Indian skipper Virat Kohli surely knows how to make the opposite team suffer. He has been in a phenomenal form in the current One Day International series against South Africa. The right-handed batsman has amassed 429 runs with two centuries and a half-century in five ODIs.

Kohli was looking his usual self in the last played ODI match but luck didn’t favour him. He was run-out by JP Duminy at the personal score of 36 runs because of an unfortunate mix-up with opening batsman Rohit Sharma.

It has been widely reported that Kohli was caught sledging a South Player. When Tabraiz Shamsi came out to bat, the Indian captain was heard saying, "Chest pad Shammo (Shamsi), you have a chest pad on." Kohli’s banter with Shamsi was actually caught on the stump mic.

Kohli, in actual, was not sledging the tail-ender and it was more of a humorous banter. In fact, the word play was started earlier in the match when Kohli was dismissed and Shamsi chipped in with some words that were not caught on the mic.

So, Kohli was just giving the South African player - a taste of his own medicine.
