India creates history by defeating Sri Lanka to complete a 3-0 Test series whitewash

India, on Monday, excelled in the bowling department as the hosts were bowled out for 181 runs in the second innings of the third Test match.

In a historic moment, India recorded a series whitewash on Lankan soil after deating Sri Lanka by an innings and 171 runs.

The Sri Lankan batsmen looked completely out-of-form and struggled in finding a rhythm against Indian bowling attack. The islanders lost four early wickets and the partnership for fifth wicket between  Dinesh Chandimal (36) and Angelo Mathews (35) provided little hope.

Kuldeep Yadav picked up crucial wicket of Chandimal and broke the building partnership.

Apart from Chandimal and Mathews, only wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella (41) could stay on crease a little longer.

Earlier, Lanka's first inning was wrapped up for only 135 runs after which Virat Kohli had enforced follow-on.
