Video: When Billy Bowden flashed first ever red card to Glenn McGrath

Umpire Billy Bowden from New Zealand was insanely popular among the aficionados for his uncommon on-field umpiring style.

Bowden became the first ever Umpire to hand over a 'red card' to a player in cricket history.

In a T20 match played between Australia and New Zealand in 2005, the former just needed one run to record a win over Kiwis. Australian great Glenn McGrath bowled the last over and tried to bring some fun in the game by emulating the underarm delivery.

Pacer McGrath had a long talk with the then skipper Ricky Ponting before delivering the illegal delivery to Kyle Mills.

Bowden rushed to stop McGrath before he could deliver the ball. The umpire pulled a red card out in his usual dramatic manner and showed it to the bowler. The entire scene turned into a funny event.
