These 3 Man of the Match awards shocked the world of cricket. Find out why...

Man of the Match award is reserved for a player who plays exceptionally well in a match and as the history would tell us, it has mostly been awarded to a batsman or a bowler.

While the batsmen largely dominate the history of Man of the Match awards, there has been three occasions when a fielder was adjusted as the best player.

A great fielding effort can turn the match at any given moment and there are quite a few players who have brought their teams out of boiling water just with the help of phenomenal fielding.

Here are the players who were awarded the Man of the Match award for their fielding:

1. Gus Logie (West Indies)

On November 28, 1986, a common tradition of cricket was put aside and a great fielder, Gus Logie, was adjusted as the Man of the Match for his dynamic display of fielding.

He took three catches and was involved in two crucial run-outs in the match against Pakistan at Sharjah. Logie caught the catch of Mudassar Nazar, Saleem Yousuf and Ijaz Ahmed, while Javed Miandad and Asif Mujtaba fell prey to his run-outs.

2. Jonty Rhodes (South Africa)

Jonty Rhodes introduced a virtual fielding revolution in cricket and went on to become one of the most popular fielders. His spectacular performance in a match against West Indies in 1993 earned him a Man of the Match award.

The South African player scripted history on the day by taking five catches. He caught BC Lara, DL Haynes, PV Simmons , JC Adams and AC Cummins.

3. Mark Taylor (Australia)

Australian player Mark Taylor produced a performance that is going to be remember for a very long time. He caught the catches of four players - AL Logie, KLT Arthurton, CL Hooper and JR Murray against West Indies in 1992. He won the Man of the Match award.

Fun Fact: West Indies was involved in all three matches. In the first match, a player from West Indies won the award, while in other two matches, players were awarded against West Indies.
