Champions Trophy: Hardik Pandya breaks Adam Gilchrist's record during India vs Pakistan match

The Indian fans were left highly disappointed due to the grand collapse of India in the final match of the Champions Trophy against arch-rival Pakistan.

Pakistan won its maiden CT title after thrashing India by 180 runs.

At a time when 'green-shirts' outclassed 'men-in-blue' in all departments, it was only all-rounder Hardik Pandya (76) who fought fiercely. After losing six wickets of the top order, Pandya took the matter in his hands and helped India in crossing the 100-run mark. He was looking entirely in his element but he had to leave the pitch following a disappointing run-out.

Riding on his fantastic knock, Pandya broke the record of Australian great Adam Gilchrist of hitting the fastest half-century in ICC event final.

Pandya smashed his fifty in just 32 balls, while former Australian wicket-keeper had achieved this feat in 33 balls in the ICC Cricket World Cup 1999.

Earlier in the day, Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and put Pakistan to bat first. Pakistan posted a mountainous total of 338 runs after losing only 4 wickets.

The Indian batsmen, on the other hand, went completely out of rhyme from the very beginning.
