Ball-tampering scandal: Here is when Rajasthan Royals will take a decision on ‘Bad Boy’ Steve Smith for IPL!
Steve
Smith, who is considered as one of the finest batsmen of current generation,
has landed himself in major trouble in the wake of Ball tampering scandal.
He was
forced to step down as the captain of the Australian team for the ongoing Test
match against South Africa and he has been fined 100% of his match fee with a
ban on one Test.
While Smith
is receiving flak from all corners of the cricketing world, his fate in the
upcoming Indian Premier League is yet to be decided.
It has
been made clear that his franchise Rajasthan Royals will wait till the decision
of ICC is delivered to take a call of its own regarding Smith’s stint.
Rajeev
Shukla, the IPL chairman, on Sunday cleared that Rajasthan Royals will wait and
see what sanctions the ICC imposes on Smith before taking a call on his future
as the franchise's captain.
Other than
Smith, David Warner also stepped down from his position as the Australian
vice-captain.
In the
major shock to many, Smith admitted to ball tampering on the third day of the
third Test against South Africa in Cape Town.
