Indian
captain Virat Kohli has been in tremendous form during the South African tour. The
run-machine touched the milestone of scoring 35 ODI tons as he became the first
ever batsman to score 500 runs in a bilateral series. He gloriously ended the
ODI series with mammoth 558 runs in his personal account.
Even
though India lost the Test series, but Virat Kohli never looked out of shine. He
was the top run-scorer in the Test series with 286 runs. With 26 runs in the
first T20I match, Kohli’s run total went up to 870 in the current tour.
Now, the
Indian skipper has a golden chance to achieve yet another record. He is just 130
runs away from scoring 1,000 runs in total in South Africa. If Kohli manages to
cross the crucial mark, he would become only the second batsman in the history
of cricket to do so on an international tour.
Interestingly,
this feat will make Kohli stand in line with Cricket great Viv Richards (West
Indies). Legendary cricketer Richards named this record after his name in 1976
as he mounted a total of 1,045 runs on West Indies' tour to England.
Schedule
of rest of the matches:
Second T20I – Wednesday (21 February)
Final T20I – Saturday (24 February)
