Indian former captain Mahendra Singh
Dhoni recently played the 300 One Day International match of his
career when India took on Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI. The
men-in-blue won the match by a huge margin of 168 runs and Dhoni
remained not out at 49 in his 300th ODI.
With 2019 World Cup in sight, all eyes
are set on Dhoni. It is largely being discussed that whether he
should play the next world cup or not. We, at Cricket Unplugged,
believe that Dhoni – the match winner must continue playing till
the 2019 World Cup.
Here are the 5 reasons why no one will
ever be able to replace MS Dhoni
1. The right-handed batsman is not just
magical bat, but he is also exceptional behind the wickets. He has a
record number of stumpings (99) to his name so far.
2. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been one of
the most successful captains of team India. He has captained the side
for 331 matches including all formats and his experience is surely
needed at all stages.
3. Mahi is the only captain who has won
all three ICC trophies (ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and also the
Champions Trophy. India will be able to make the best use of his
cricketing wisdom at the World Cup. Also, he has an ability of
remaining cool in all kind of situation which help him in thinking
straight. His thought process is never shielded by aggression. This
unique quality help in being a great match-winner.
4. Dhoni has ended a run-chase with a
six for a record 9 times. His confidence in his batting abilities
helps the team as well as the other players.
5. His batting position says a lot
about him. He mostly comes to play at number six, which is a position
laden with numerous responsibilities. If the top and middle batting
order fail to deliver, then it falls on his shoulders to post big
runs on board and if the top batting order plays well, then Dhoni is
required to consolidate the position. Not everyone can be as good as
Mahi at the crucial number six position. You have to be extremely
self-less to serve this position as you may not get a chance to
complete your century or half-century always.
